The Round Tuit. Sermon 6 of 6

Sometimes growing old is one of the hardest things to do… well, not so much growing old, but growing old gracefully.  We live in a culture that worships youth and looking young and often despises the old and wise.  Much of that centers on a life focused on the outward and on world expectations, as opposed to finding our value in a life lived according to Christ.

This weeks sermon is the conclusion of the series “Finding Meaning in a Meaningless World.”  I hope that this sermon, as well as the others here, have been an encouragement and have in some way helped you on the journey of life.  I pray that each of you get as much from listening to it as I do in preparing to deliver it.

I hope you enjoy, and that very soon you get a “round tuit”.

MP3 Audio for Disparity of Death. Sermon 5 of 6

This week we talk about an issue that every single person in the world will have to deal with at some point.  Our lives continue on a steady pace through the timeline of existence, and during our short time that we have here we have to make the choice to decide what is the most important thing.  I encourage each one of you to consider the truth that our earthly life is the opportunity to prepare for our eternal existence…. And “keep your fork, there is something more coming.”

I hope that you can get as much from  this message as I did in preparation for it.  If you would like to join us in person to worship, we invite you to join us at Cornerstone Christian Church in Bowling Green, Mo.

Sunday school is at 9:30am

Worship service is at 10:30am

The Pointlessness of Possessions. Sermon 4 of 6

Sermon Audio: The Pointlessness of Possessions. Ecc 5:10-20

This weeks sermon text is Ecclesiastes 5:10-20 and titled, “The Pointlessness of Possessions.”  So many times in our culture we have an idea of what we want to accomplish or to acquire in order to be happy… but many times when we finally get what we have been chasing we realize that it can not bring us happiness and once the chase is over we feel a let down, a sense of emptiness.  We have to ask, “What’s next?”

In this sermon we see what God has to say about the idea that we can achieve happiness through the owning of material things.

“The vanity of the world will leave you with money in the bank, but you will be spiritually bankrupt.”

I hope you enjoy this and receive as much of a blessing as I have in the study and delivery of this sermon.

In Christ.

The Tyranny of Time. Sermon 3 of 6

Sermon Audio: The Tyranny of Time. Ecclesiastes 3

The popular idea in our culture that we have all the time in the world is shattered when we think about how small our time on this earth really is.  When we imagine what we would do if we were suddenly faced with the knowledge that we only have a few days left to live, it changes our entire perspective on time and on life.  We have to sit down and really think about what is most important in our life.  What is the most important thing to me?  Our priorities change and our outlook on relationships take on a whole new dynamic.  I ask you to consider what is most important in your life as you listen to the sermon from this week.

This is the third sermon in a series of six titled, “Finding Meaning in a Meaningless World.”  This individual sermon is titled “The Tyranny of Time” and is based on the text from Ecclesiastes chapter 3.  I hope you enjoy it and can gain as much inspiration and insight as I did in preparation to deliver it.

This sermon was delivered at Cornerstone Christian Church in Bowling Green, MO.  We invite you to join us in person for the rest of this series.

Preview: This week we will be studying chapter two of Ecclesiastes and discussing the search for significance in our world.  How many times do we buy into the belief that if we just get that one more thing that we want, then we will be happy and everything will be ok?  Time and time again we are disappointed by the gain of material items.  We invite you to join us this Sunday as we take an in depth look at what God and the Bible have to say about this topic; and if you can not make it out to worship with us in person, the audio from the sermon will be posted here on Monday.

This is a sermon series that will be presented over a six week period at Cornerstone Christian Church in Bowling Green Missouri.  We invite you to join us as we learn and grow together.

Finding Meaning in a Meaningless World

meaningless life

A question that every person will ask themselves at some point in their life… What is the meaning of life?  Am I really just meant to get up, go to work, make money to buy stuff, go to sleep, and repeat for my entire earthly life?  There has got to me something more to life.  I agree, and this is one of the main questions that started me on this path of discovery and lead me to write this sermon series.  I invite you to join me as we work our way through the words and teaching of King Solomon and attempt to discover meaning to life in a meaningless world.

This is a sermon series that will be presented over a six week period at Cornerstone Christian Church in Bowling Green Missouri.  We invite you to join us as we learn and grow together.

The first sermon of the series will be titled, “The meaning of meaninglessness” and will be based on Ecclesiastes 1:1-18.
